Walkthru
Enter from fiberglass swim-platform thru inward-swinging transom door, adjacent to the in-transom bait-well, into expansive (56 sq ft!) flat COCKPIT with padded bolsters all around. Two swing-open deck-hatches access the deep draining fishwells (big enough for storage); third central deck-hatch opens up to yet more storage in gelcoat-lined lazarette, and access to the Northern Lights genset. Note molded-in steps up to side-decks.

Ladder-access up from cockpit is always available thru a keyhole-entry (no canvas to unzip!) to fully-enclosed, hardtopped FLYBRIDGE. Upholstered swivel armchair-helmseat commands full 360-degree visibility thru clear isinglass uppers on the vinyl-fabric enclosure; zip-open roll-up “smiley” openings on all four sides. Plenty of seating for guests on u-shaped banquette, with storage under. Integrated factory hardtop has stunning dark-blue gelcoated overhead liner incorporating built-in lights, safety grab-bars — over 6’3″ headroom!

From cockpit, sliding entry door leads into carpeted SALON featuring the rare lower-helm. Short counter to starboard at entry is perfect location for flat-screen TV to watch from L-shaped settee on portside; this counter also houses electrical panel and separate Norcold freezer. Extending out a bit from this counter is cabinet for Norcold fridge; atop this is low-backed upholstered helmseat. To port, the comfortable, high-backed settee surrounds a teak table; table drops down to make up third sleeping area, using filler-cushion. Storage compartments under and behind the settee. Directly across from helm, and forward of dining table at settee, is “up” GALLEY featuring recently-upgraded Force-10 propane sealed-top stove with oven, Samsung Microwave, and two-basin stainless-steel sink with single-lever faucet. Galley is especially well-lit from huge slanted forward windshield. Plenty of light streams into salon thru windows on all four sides; two windows per side are slide-opening. Note teak valances and custom drapes.

Down three steps with secure grab-rail to short passageway. GUEST STATEROOM to port featuring over-under berths, hanging locker and opening portlight. Across passageway to HEAD with single-piece seamless liner incorporating molded-in sink and glass-door shower-stall, opening portlight for ventilation. Directly forward to forepeak MASTER STATEROOM, featuring the desired island double berth, with walkways either side for easy access. Built-in cabinets and hullside shelves are tasteful subdued monochrome matching the rest of the boat’s interior; good lighting from two opening deck-hatches on overhead as well as two opening portlights.

Engine-room (manufacurer-provided description)
The engine room of the Mediterranean 38 is a testament to attention to detail. The compartment is a mirror-smooth fiberglass engineered structure that incorporates fiberglass drip pans under the engines, fiberglass battery boxes with lock-down hinged vented covers, engine stringers, elevated floor boards, and a molded-in sump for the bilge pumps. The standard soundproofing is superior, featuring a special mylar-faced barrier material applied in layers to the main salon sole. Special attention has been given to vibration-borne noise dampening. This, coupled with large water-lift mufflers makes the Mediterranean 38 one of the quietest and smoothest vessels of her size afloat. All of the engine room machinery is easily accessible for maintenance while the engines, equipment, wiring, and plumbing installations are among the best in the industry. Comparing this engine room to others will demonstrate just how well engineered and well built the Mediterranean 38 really is.

Outside Equipment/Extras
Electric windlass

Walkthru
This is your classic 47 Bayliner Pilothouse, popular and common in Pacific NW, as the design and layout work so well for Salish Sea cruising.

Easy to enter the boat thru the transom door, as the swim-platform is clear (since the large dinghy is stored by electric crane up on the boat-deck). A hatch in the swim-platform accesses a custom flooded fishwell/locker. Full isinglass/canvas enclosure around the cockpit. By this year, there is NO TEAK around the cockpit coaming, nor on the caprail forward, yet there still remains a bit of yachty teak on the aft-cabin bulkhead (easy to maintain, since it’s always under cover). Vinyl bolster around cockpit edge. Cabinet to starboard of the ladder to boat-deck houses the control panel and filters for the on-board SeaRecovery Watermaker. Note that boatdeck access is thru a sliding hatch, far safer than the typical hinged type.

As the sliding salon entry door is offset to port, the L-shaped settee aft and starboard is quite large, surrounding an octagonal table with two folding corners. Additional vinyl-covered stools provide seating all around this table. To port, two upholstered chairs with small table between, complete the salon seating.

A custom feature is FIVE salon-floor hatches, each individually-carpeted, for complete top-down access to each engine; one is a long skinny one to drop-in to the clean space between the engines for oil-check.

Galley is at forward end of salon, to port. Peninsula countertop separates galley from salon, and contains a double-basin SSTL sink with single-lever faucet, pull-out nozzle. This boat has been converted to PROPANE stove (preference of most cooks, and quiet – no need to start the generator!) Trash compactor and tall NorCold fridge with top-door freezer complete the appliances.

Across from galley is a wet-bar with small sink, icemaker, built in countertop NuTone Blender (Margaritas!), and a cabinet full of JVC home-quality stereo components. Note in-salon connection to KVH TracVision 4 satellite-tracking dome, for tv in the cabinet below the galley counter.

Up stairs to the pilothouse, with a custom helmseat, much plusher and larger than the Bayliner standard. Guests can join on the L-shaped sette aft and to port of the helm; they have a trapezoidal table to lay out the charts and navigation books. Two sliding doors out to side-decks.

Then up thru plexiglass door to the fully-enclosed flybridge, with its single helmseat surrounded by L-shaped settee to port, long settee to starboard. All upholstery is original, but always covered AND under the enclosure, so still in very good condition. There’s a large 110v chest-freezer within the enclosure, and a smaller 12v freezer-chest on the boat-deck. Aft thru the drop-down curtain off the radar arch, to boat-deck area where the well-outfitted RIB inflatable (with bow-railing, bow-seat, steering console adjacent to mid-seat, and two-person aft helmseat) resides. Radar arch has open-array rotating radar scanner, and KVH TracVision 4 satellite tv.

Returning inside, the passageway forward from the salon has single-tub washer/dryer behind teak doors, access to the double-berth guest stateroom to port and the guest head with glass-door showerstall directly opposite, then a long walk to the forepeak stateroom. What is often a too-small third stateroom is — in this boat — incorporated into the open-plan larger master; that is: the settee (that makes into over-and-under “grandkids berths” and the large mirrored cabinet filled with drawers and hanging closet, are all a part of this spacious-feeling forward suite. The island Queen berth has nine drawers under; two more hanging lockers complete the more-than-adequate storage. Door to private master head, with glass-door showerstall that incorporates a full-length soaking tub!

Throughout the boat, the carpeting is exceptionally clean and un-worn; padded vinyl headliner and hullside padding is similarly very fresh-looking. Cream-colored levolor privacy blinds everywhere.

Salon
FIVE hatches atop engine-room, each individually carpeted

Leather(ette) settee

Octagonal table, with two fold-up corners

Two seating stools

Two upholstered chairs

Occasional table

Wetbar with sink and ice-maker

JVC stereo components:FM receiver, twin-casette player, and five disk rotary CD changer

Hydronic (circulating hot-water) heating thru-out boat, for most uniform heat.

Galley
Magic-Chef PROPANE stove – 3-burner with oven; modern black porcelain, with full-top grating.

2-basin SSTL sink; single-lever faucet with pull-out nozzle.

Trash compactor

Norcold tall Fridge/Freezer

Frigidaire MW with cooking fan/filter, above stove
